Sometimes “fast” simply isn’t fast enough, and sometimes even shipping an order by express delivery doesn’t cut it, especially if industrial machines have come to a standstill and applications aren’t working. This is exactly when the PICARD COURIER options should be considered.

From Bochum to Sweden in six hours

Something similar just happened to one of our customers in Sweden. A machine belonging to one of their customers had failed and urgently required spare parts. The customer checked our online shop and quickly realised that we had sufficient stock of the required item. So the customer submitted an urgent enquiry stipulating that the product would have to be delivered the same day.

This is when our latest shipping option – our international courier service by plane – came into its own. If this option is selected, our courier takes full responsibility for the shipment, from collecting it from our warehouse through to delivery at the customer’s site. The speed of the delivery and continuous, personal supervision of the transported goods by the relevant courier are both enormous advantages.

Every step of the shipment from consignment through to delivery is executed smoothly and precisely by an exemplary team. Once the product required by the Swedish customer had been picked and packaged by us in the warehouse, the courier collected the package from our dispatch warehouse in Bochum, Germany at 3:30 p.m. The package was then transported directly to Düsseldorf airport, where it was transferred to the relevant courier for further transport. The package was flown to Copenhagen and finally transferred by taxi to its destination – a small town in Sweden. And just under six hours later, at 9:15 p.m., it was delivered at the customer’s site, ensuring the parts that needed replacing could be installed immediately. The customer and operator were both relieved.

Same-day delivery to England

Just a short while later we received another order. A British customer urgently needed linear rails and a guide carriage that same day for a customer near Birmingham.

Even though England is an export country outside the EU, this poses no problem for same-day deliveries. On request, we can complete the goods import process with the customs authorities at the airport and deliver the order directly to the customer or operator. Alternatively, our courier can deliver the goods to the airport and the customer can pay the customs duties. This was the case for the order from England. Within a very short time, the required rails were accurately separated according to the customer’s requirements at our linear centre, the order was packed and it was transferred to our courier to be transported to Düsseldorf airport. After a flight of just over an hour, the transported goods had already arrived in Birmingham where they were handed over to our customer who in turn delivered them to their customer. The end customer was then able to mount the spare parts on the same day the order was placed, preventing a longer and more expensive downtime of the application.
