Founded in 1922, Friedrich PICARD GmbH & Co. KG is a wholesaler for rolling bearings and linear technology. From our site in Bochum, we supply the specialised technical trade worldwide. We provide unrestricted access to premium brands and inspire our customers with our logistics and digital solutions.
As part of our entrepreneurial activities, we actively contribute to achieving the sustainability goals of the United Nations Agenda 2030 and review all strategic decisions with regard to their impact on the environment and society. To this end, we focus fundamentally on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Nos. 4, 7, 9, 10 and 13.
Goal 4 "High Quality Education" for us means offering our employees secure jobs and room for professional and personal development. A high level of education and qualification, which also includes the topic of sustainability, is crucial for PICARD's lasting success. We also focus on the health of our employees by offering healthy meals in our own canteen, as well as by promoting a healthy lifestyle through the company's own fitness room and personal trainer.
Goals 7 "Affordable and Clean Energy" and 13 "Climate Protection Measures" are strongly intertwined and are given special consideration due to our core business. The aim is to firstly avoid CO2 emissions, then to reduce them and finally to compensate them within the framework of systematic climate management. Using renewable energies on our own site in the future supports our CO2 avoidance strategy. Together with our logistics service providers we regularly review how CO2-reduced shipping can be implemented. We involve our customers as important stakeholders in the CO2 issue and offer them CO2-neutral shipping solutions while bearing part of the cost. To compensate for unavoidable emissions such as express and courier shipments or air travel by our employees, we support various climate protection projects, e.g. reforestation projects as well as water and wind power projects, which we examine carefully beforehand.
Under Goal 9 "Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure", we focus primarily on innovative solutions that we see being implemented in the fields of digitalisation, long-term resource conservation and material and packaging issues.
On Goal 10 "Fewer inequalities", PICARD stands out for its multinational workforce, consisting of 36 nations, with many native speakers serving the international clientele together. Diversity is necessary for PICARD to be successful in international wholesale.
The managers of our company act as role models in the field of operational ecology and sustainability and motivate all employees to act in an environmentally and health-conscious manner. Compliance with environmental obligations is a matter of course, and ideas for improvement in the sense of EcoProfit® are always welcome.
So that together we can move towards a sustainable and liveable future.
